Invasive Weed Management

Biodiverse Environmental was engaged to carry out weed surveys for NF Corbett along the highway in Kilkivan (Queensland), to inform the client on the incursion of weeds listed as invasive species, as per the Biosecurity Act 2014 (QLD) for development or other purposes.

Invasive weeds within the site area were surveyed and mapped, which included both prohibited and restricted weed species as listed as invasive plants by Biosecurity Queensland.

During the surveys, several restricted weeds and environmental weeds were recorded. Following the surveys, a weed management plan was provided to the client and recommendations on best practice weed control were given.

Weed control measures were then implemented, and a follow-up inspection was conducted to ensure the weeds were managed appropriately and that all weed management requirements were met for the client’s development approval conditions.

Surveys of the land parcel, following the initial treatment of the invasive weeds, indicated that the weeds had been treated sufficiently to satisfy the development approval conditions. Based on the survey results, the management plan and the treatment results, recommendations were made to the client that retreatment of the property may be required on a regular basis, as weed seedlings re-emerge.
