Weed Survey and Control Recommendations

A road duplication project occurring in the City of Redland, Queensland, required weed management services as part of the project’s environmental management obligations. Biodiverse Environmental was contracted to fulfil the weed management requirements of the project. The weed management was required to occur prior to construction of the 2km duplication of road.

To gain a better understanding of the weed species composition at the site, Biodiverse Environmental conducted a weed survey. This survey which would help to identify restricted invasive plants (as listed by Biosecurity Queensland) and Weeds of National Significance (WoNS) present within the road reserve.

The information obtained through the on-site survey would also be used to develop a report and mapping to guide the weed control measures to be implemented before the road upgrade works commenced.

Findings of the weed survey identified six restricted invasive species within the site, as well as two WoNS. Due to the occurrence of these weed species, it was recommended that all invasive species be treated within the site and that weed control works should occur within a suitable timeframe, dependent on weed species, prior to construction commencing.
